Blackburn with Darwen Community DVT Service contract has been extended for two years due to the success of the pilot. Further work on the out of hours and A & E pathway is being developed with providers . A patient service survey was completed in April 2017 with outcomes of this being considered as part of the new service specification.
According to the survey, the majority of patients felt the service was very good or good. They felt the service was much faster and efficient compared to how the service had been carried out in the past. The majority of patients were seen on the day, with some as quickly as two hours. The majority of people surveyed felt nothing needed to be improved whilst others said improved leaflets and better communication were needed.
