We are pleased to report that NHS East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have both achieved an overall end of year rating of ‘Good’ in the NHS England assessment of performance for 2018/19.
Blackburn with Darwen CCG has also achieved the highest rating (outstanding) for the work we do around diabetes and maintained the outstanding rating for dementia whilst East Lancashire CCG has likewise achieved an outstanding rating for dementia.
The CCGs are two of the 8 CCGs in Lancashire to achieve a coveted “green” rating, putting both CCGs in a cohort of the top performing groups in the country.
Both CCGs were commended for maintaining the same rating as last year 2017/2018, despite the increased pressures across the system. The CCGs’ ability to maintain the same level was “testament to the CCGs leadership and engagement across your local health economy”.
A huge thank you to all our staff and partners for their continued hard work, dedication and commitment to serving the people of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen and ensuring that when people need health care, those services are the best that they can be.
As well has being commended for our outstanding performance in dementia and diabetes, both CCGs have been particularly recognised for demonstrating significant reductions in prescribing costs. NHS England also congratulated us on our ‘Let’s Talk Cancer’ campaign which is noted as being a highly positive programme. In addition, NHS England has recognised the focus that has been shown in the overall delivery of our financial management.
