Patients living with diabetes, and their carers, who are registered with a GP in Blackburn with Darwen, are being invited to an informal focus group to identify areas where improvements can be made to their diabetes care.
NHS Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the commissioners of the diabetes service, is currently looking at re-designing the service in Blackburn with Darwen with the aim of bringing more care closer to home.
The focus group will aim to understand what works and what needs improving; what support / advice they would like to enable them self-manage their diabetes better; and, where and when they would like services to be delivered. The discussion will be informal and confidential lasting approximately one and a half to two hours. Light refreshments will be provided.
The focus group is being held on Monday 26 September at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre in Blackburn between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
Lisa Kiernan, Head of Primary Care and Integrated Community Services at NHS Blackburn with Darwen CCG, said: “Following a paper survey that we carried out amongst our diabetes patients, we now want to follow this up with a focus group. Through this, we are hoping to identify how we can provide patients with the highest standard of diabetes care possible.
“The discussion will be very informal and will help us make improvements including how we can help patients to better self-manage their own condition.”
