Blackburn with Darwen CCG staff have donated much needed items to the charity Nightsafe, which provides emergency and short term accommodation for vulnerable young people in the borough.
Among the items given to the charity were socks, hats, gloves, toiletries, dry food and snacks. Samantha Jones, Senior Commissioning Manager – Scheduled Care, at the CCG, donated a huge bouquet of chocolate that she won in a Christmas raffle at Shoebox.
Chairman of the CCG Graham Burgess handed over the Christmas donation box to staff and young people at the shelter in Blackburn town centre. He said: “Nightsafe does such a great job in helping vulnerable young people and the charity is reliant on donations. We hope that our Christmas box will bring some comfort and happiness to the young people at such a difficult time.”
Amanda Fletcher, Day Centre Co-ordinator at Nightsafe said: “Without the generosity of local people donating towards our service, we wouldn’t be able to give presents and much needed items to our young people at Christmas. These items may seem small but they make such a big difference to our young people. The young people can also see that the community have not forgotten about them and care about them, especially at Christmas.”
