Blackburn with Darwen CCG is an innovative and well-established Clinical Commissioning Group, dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of local people with GPs and healthcare professionals at the forefront of commissioning services.
As our current Chair’s term of office ends this summer, the CCG can now offer an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, who will have an interest in shaping and further developing the CCG. The chosen candidate will be a member of the public with a sound knowledge of the local community and of the population we serve. It would be desirable (but not essential) for the individual to reside in Blackburn with Darwen.
The Chair will have a lead role in championing public and patient involvement and as such will ensure that the voice of the local population is heard. The successful candidate will utilise their skills to make certain that the expectations of the public and patients are understood and met as appropriate. The post holder will also ensure that the CCG builds and maintains effective relationships with the Local Healthwatch and Health and Wellbeing Board, drawing upon existing patient and public involvement expertise.
The Chair will also be required to fulfil the role of the Governing Body Chairperson, demonstrating exceptional skills in chairmanship in light of the challenging agendas and conflicts of interest which occur at times.
The role will be on a part time basis, ideally averaging 24 hours per week; however this will be further considered during the recruitment process to ensure that candidates with the right skills and attributes are not excluded. The remuneration will be at the rate of £35,000 per annum in line with national guidance.
